Job Summary: • The Instructional Designer (ID) is responsible for the assessment, analysis, design, development, deployment, evaluation and maintenance of all e-learning programming. The ID designs engaging and interactive learning activities that include sound instructional design methodology. The ID serves as the LMS administer. Specialists, Informatics Educators, Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) and organizational leaders with the goal of providing online educational programming that meets the strategic goals of the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Develops instructional design plans for e-Learning programs to include project scope, learning needs assessments, learning objectives, design structure, validation of content, and defined learning outcomes. • Designs engaging on-line learning activities that include sound instructional design methodology. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. • Collaborates with Professional Development Specialists/SME’s to analyze content, determine target audience, develop and format instructional material and validate appropriateness of learner objectives and outcomes. • Designs and develops assessment tools that measure students’ mastery of course materials. • Serves as lead LMS Administrator working closely with LMS vendor to complete group assignments, course rule assignments, SCORM loads, and creates standard and custom reports. • Manages the day-to-day workings of the LMS system, troubleshoots, assigns lessons, assists with password resets, and responds to staff questions in a timely manner. • Maintains system consistency by working closely with LMS vendor for system upgrades and notifications for any system down times or outages and ensures appropriate communication to leaders and staff. • Provides direction to associates and leadership in the event of an unscheduled downtimes, keeps them abreast of the problem resolution progress. • Establishes an annual lesson review/revision process to include quality monitors to ensure all lessons contain current content, are proofread, edited and accurately assigned. • Works with Leaders and Professional Development Specialists to ensure content meets regulatory requirements as appropriate. • Leads e-Learning projects as assigned by director. • Submits status reports to director regarding new lesson requests, lesson revisions, and timelines; keeps director apprised of all pertinent e-Learning activities and issues. • Meets with Professional Development Specialists/SME’s biannually and periodically as needed for exchange of information regarding changes in regulatory requirements, new lesson requests, necessary content revisions, lesson assignments and other issues that may arise. • Assigns e-Learning lessons accurately and in a timely manner for new hires, annual required training and new requested lessons throughout the year. • Establishes and maintains electronic course files, lesson versions, archives retired classes and maintains tracking tools or project plans for lesson development, implementation and revision processes. • Creates levels of access to LMS system as appropriate by specific role and assigns security access to managers for monitoring and reporting functions. • Remains current in practice through researching new technologies, journal reading, professional conference attendance and national professional memberships. • Conducts research and recommends new processes, technology, and tools to enhance efficiency and/or productivity. Education, Experience, Qualifications: • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, curriculum instruction or educational technology or related field required; Master’s preferred. • Must have minimum 2 years experience with Articulate Story Line. • Minimum of two years’ experience in education and instructional design with an emphasis on the development of e-Learning programs; a health care focus desired. • Knowledge of adult learning principles, particularly as it relates to distance learners. • Demonstrated competence with instructional design and courseware development methods. • Expertise in MS Office, Adobe Captivate Suite, Articulate Story Line, or Captivate or comparable courseware design software. • Experience in administering a Learning Management System. • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills. • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects and effectively meet deadlines. • Ability to be adaptable and creative under pressure. • Excellent problem solving and project management skills. • Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
